I have a working (with some problems) application with Virgo 2.1 and want to check if moving to Virgo 3.0 resolves these problems. I don't see any way to add a Virgo 3.0 server to Virgo IDE, so the next thing I wanted to try was to install the artifacts manually via Virgo Admin Console. However, this requires me to upload specific files.

I have 1) a Spring project (ru.focusmedia.odp.ssd.db) containing only .xml which configures the database drivers; 2) a par (PSHD) containing 4 other projects. From looking at the 2.1.1 server, there is a /stage subfolder which contains subfolders ru.focusmedia.odp.ssd.db.jar and PSHD.par. Presumably, copying it to Virgo 3.0 server isn't enough: Virgo IDE also has a way to set startup order. What else does need to be done? Is there a simpler/better way to try the application in Virgo 3.0?

Hi,

If your using the latest Virgo IDE tools you should just add the server using the 2.1 configuration, it will mostly work although a few features might be missing compared to the tools before donation to Eclipse, these will be re-instated soon.

The /stage subfolder is created by the tools, you should not use it. It is just another configured repository like 'repositories/ext' and 'repositories/user'.

If you have built bundles you can always just deploy them in to the pickup directory if your having trouble with the tools.

Chris.

Ok, thanks!

Do you mean with "Export > Eclipse RT > Bundle/PAR project"? And should it be /pickup or /repository/usr?

Use pickup if you want the artifact to be started and use repository/usr if you just want it to be available for other artifacts.
