Diagram from models in "Families2Persons" [message #73250] Thu, 24 January 2008 14:50 Go to next message

Hi,
I run the example "Families2Persons" without problems.
I'd want to generate diagrams from the input and output models, ie :
"sample-Families.ecore" and "sample-Persons.ecore".
When i right-click on the model file, and choose "Initialize
ecore_diagram diagram file" command, the wizard says at step 2 "Invalid
diagram root element is selected".
What is the right way to obtain an ecore diagram ?
Many thanks in advance
Nicolas

Hi,

from what I understand, you are trying to initialize a diagramm for a
model which is not in ecore even though it has this extension.

The feature you are trying to use is only for ecore model.

Actually sample-Families conforms to the metamodel Families.ecore and
sample-Persons to the metamodel Persons.ecore. These two metamodels are
defined in ecore ; so they are the ones from which you can direcly get a
diagramm.

If you want a graphical editor for Families or Persons, you have to
define their graphical concrete syntax. For this one, you may have a
look at GMF.
