As you might have found out yourself this is about Android Tools and
hence it would make more sense to ask on one of their forums.

I am having this problem too.
I am trying to follow the "Installing the ADT Plugin" for the android from the android setup guide at <cant post a link cause im a noob>
and they give you two routes to follow:

1.

Start Eclipse, then select Help > Install New Software....
Click Add, in the top-right corner.
In the Add Repository dialog that appears, enter "ADT Plugin" for the Name and the following URL for the Location:

<cant post a link cause im a noob>

Click OK

Note: If you have trouble acquiring the plugin, try using "http" in the Location URL, instead of "https" (https is preferred for security reasons).
In the Available Software dialog, select the checkbox next to Developer Tools and click Next.
In the next window, you'll see a list of the tools to be downloaded. Click Next.
Read and accept the license agreements, then click Finish.

Note: If you get a security warning saying that the authenticity or validity of the software can't be established, click OK.
When the installation completes, restart Eclipse.

OR 2.

If you are having trouble downloading the ADT plugin after following the steps above, here are some suggestions:

If Eclipse can not find the remote update site containing the ADT plugin, try changing the remote site URL to use http, rather than https. That is, set the Location for the remote site to:

<cant post a link cause im a noob>

If you are behind a firewall (such as a corporate firewall), make sure that you have properly configured your proxy settings in Eclipse. In Eclipse, you can configure proxy information from the main Eclipse menu in Window (on Mac OS X, Eclipse) > Preferences > General > Network Connections.

If you are still unable to use Eclipse to download the ADT plugin as a remote update site, you can download the ADT zip file to your local machine and manually install it:

Download the current ADT Plugin zip file from the table below (do not unpack it).
Name Package Size MD5 Checksum
ADT 12.0.0 ADT-12.0.0.zip 5651973 bytes 8ad85d0f3da4a2b8dadfddcc2d66dbcb
Follow steps 1 and 2 in the default install instructions (above).

BUT both ways lead to the same error. please help.

Please post Android questions on Android forums. This is an Eclipse forum. Eclipse forums do not provide Android support.

At the available software window, click on the link "Available software sites".
You need two items checked, the Android Plugin that you added and the download.eclipse.org/releases/helios or galilio if that is your version of eclipse. Click ok to go back to the available software window.
Now select Work with: Android plugin.
Now click next continuing with install.

I followed the instruction from

fedoraproject.org/wiki/HOWTO_Setup_Android_Development

I had skipped checking the release/helios and got the errors that you did. When I check the release/helios I was able to install ok.

Try this. go to Window> Preferences > General > Network Connections.
Change the Active Provider drop-down choice to 'direct'.All the best.
