About 18 years ago I wrote a nifty gardening program using Visual Basic. Sadly that wonderful programming environment is no longer supported and my little program is now much out of date. I have been trying for over a year to get local computer geeks (computer science students here at Clemson) to recreate my program using Eclipse RCP so that for one thing, my program would work on both PCs and Macs (and Android based tablets, for that matter). So far I have only a partially functioning user interface, which seems to be because the folks I have had work on this so far really don't know their way around Eclipse RCP that well.

Thus I'm looking for an *experienced* Eclipse RCP developer to finish reprogramming my gardening software. That means you should have already used Eclipse RCP to have developed a working application with a nice graphical user interface, installation package, help functions, update capability, etc. Please be able to back up your claims of experience with some kind of proof, as in software I can download some where, screenshots, or whatever. I don't think this is too much to ask; I really don't have time to struggle with another programmer who doesn't have really good Eclipse RCP skills.

For someone who really knows what they're doing in Eclipse, I don't think this project should take more than a week.

You don't necessarily need to live near me (Clemson, SC) to handle this project. I'm pretty confident I can explain via Skype and Adobe Connect the needed functionality.

If you want to take a look at the existing software I programmed in VB, just google "Garden Manager Software".

I have paid my last two programmers $15/hr. If you live nearby I'll write you a check. If you live some place else, we can use Paypal instead. If you want to negotiate some other arrangement (turn-key) or whatever, just make me a proposal.

I would prefer to work with a freelance individual programmer based in the USA, however at this point I would also consider companies and outfits overseas as well.

Please email me at jmaier at mindspring dot com if you're interested!

Thanks much!

Jonathan,

I'm just curious, what makes you think that Eclipse RCP applications can run on Android? I don't know of any OSGi implementations fully ported to Android and I don't recall seeing a port of the native RCP bits to Android (SWT included).

I'd love to stand corrected...

Thanks,
Robert

I would be very surprised if you found anyone with real Eclipse RCP
experience that would even talk to you for $15/hour. I guess you got
what you paid for.
