The proposal to create a project to build editors for Java EE descriptors such as web.xml and application.xml using Sapphire has been officially posted. If you are interested in this, follow the link for more information.

One thing I'd like to see with such an editor is an option to extract all annotations and
configure them as deployment descriptor entries. This would save much time on deployments
that waste cycles searching hundreds of JARs for the possibility of annotations lurking
somewhere. Documenting infrastructure dependencies in deployment descriptors is much more
"visible" than having these lurking in some annotation among thousands of lines of code.

Sounds reasonable. Hang on to that thought and when the project is created open an enhancement request to track this requirement.
