Hi All,

We plan to use EEF in a substantial way.

Since EEF is still in incubation phase we would like to know how much stable it be ?
and what are its plan to mature ?.

I am bit speculative here because we had adopted one incubated project earlier and ended up facing difficulties in terms of support and APIs Smile.

cheers,
Saurav

Hi saurav,

Well, EEF 1.0.0 is not incubating anymore and is stable enough to be
used in production mode.

BTW, EEF is very dependent of your metamodel and the way the EEF models
are made. To be more specific, if you have hundreds metaclasses and for
each you want to generates 1 component and 2 views, EEF will not be very
fast for generation. you should customize the default initialization of
your eef models by using references between views and components, and to
generates only the views for the edited metaclass of your model.

For more little metamodels, EEF will not have any performance problems (
generation and runtime ).

hope that helps,

Hi Stéphane,

I understand your point of Having less views for bigger metamodels.

And the website seems to be misleading, still depicting it as an incubation project http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emft/?project=eef Smile

cheers,
Saurav

the website is for EMFT, not for EEF itself ( the paragraph says : "Some
components are currently in their Validation (Incubation) Phase."

EMFT is the incubation project of Eclipqe modeling, and we will move
soon to the EMF project. Doing this, we will loose our "incubating egg" :)
