Even with the newest WTP (3.3.0) in Eclipse Indigo JSP files are by default validated, even if they are within derived folders. That doesn't make any sense, since "Derived" means the files in that folder (and even in subfolders) can be recreated from other source files (help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/guide/resAdv_derived.htm). Is it possible to disable all kind of validation for derived folders? In my opinion that should be the default behaviour. Is there any bug id for this issue yet?
Thanks
Konrad

Hi, Konrad. This looks like a slight oversight in the JSP Content and Syntax Validators after implementing methods of the newer validation framework. I do not believe there is a defect open for this yet, so please feel free to open one.

In the meantime, you may be able to exclude the particular derived folders from validation. To do this open Window > Preferences and select Validation from the tree. Scroll down the list and you'll see JSP Content Validator and JSP Syntax Validator. You can repeat these steps for both of these validators. Click the ... button under Settings. In the dialog that pops up, select Add Exclude Group... Select the Exclude Group in the tree and press Add Rule.... Then choose Folder or file name and press Next >. Press Browse Folder... and navigate to the derived folder in your workspace. Press Finish, OK, OK and press Yes if you want to perform the full rebuild now. Hopefully that'll correct things for you.

Hi Nick, thanks for your prompt answer. I've opened bug 350657 for this issue (bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=350657).
