Javafx2.0 has just been released and is now fully integrated to java (no more javafxscript)... It is aimed (without beeing said) to replace swing and I wonder if a javafx version of windowsbuilder is already planned, and if so when...

The current committer team has no plans to do this, but we would be happy to support anyone who wishes to do this as part of the WindowBuilder project. The API looks Swing-like, so it might be possible to clone and adapt the existing WindowBuilder Swing Designer code. I'm guessing that you would be looking at a 4-6 month project for 2-3 people.

As a side note I've started working on a CSS-Tooling for JavaFX using
Xtext the project is called e(fx)clipse and you can read more about it:

Looking at the WindowBuilder-Sources is on my plan already but as I can

Thanks both for tour answers.
There are two aspects in javafx ;
- building GUI like we could do with swing or swt
- building vectorized animations (2D or 3D)
In a previous GUi builder in netbeans for javafx1.3, both aspects were taken into account through the use of the State view concept.. I imagine this kind of approach is not straightly usable with WindowBuilder, and it would be the main part of the work in building windowbuilder for javafx.

Apart of this, I think that the use of javafx and its capabilities to interface with HTML and browsers could be valuable for the orion project by enabling to design a AIR-like solution for web-eclipse.

I've checked out the sources for window builder and try to get familiar
with the API of it but I'm having a hard time understanding what all
pieces are doing ;-)

I guess there's no (at least highlevel) overview on how window builder
is working?
