Disk access on key press [message #69317] Wed, 23 April 2008 23:15 Go to next message

Hey All --

It seems that PDT (I have the latest integration build) constantly
accesses the disk on any key press. This is making it very painful to edit
files over a network. PDT is the ONLY editor I have used that does this
kind of thing. My main question is how do I disable it? and then
also...What exactly is it doing and why is it necessary?

I had posted a message about this around 10 months ago
( http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.tools.pdt/msg0 0735.html),
and no one provided an answer. I had stopped using PDT because of this,
but I thought I would try again...I really love the editor, but this one
thing is making it impossible to use.

thanks in advance for your help,
Kelvin

Do you maybe have Refresh automatically selected in Preferences | General
| Workspace? Try unchekcing it.

No, refresh automatically isn't set. I have played around with the
preferences quite a bit, and nothing there seems to be in. I am becoming
pretty sure that this is the PDT itself that is doing this.

This problem also makes simple things like hitting the down arrow really
slow (the caret lags). I guess I will file a bug and see what they say.

If any one else (or any developers of PDT) have any insight, would
appreciate it.

Thanks guys!
Kelvin
