No public Maven repository for SWT platform binaries - why? [message #687988] Thu, 23 June 2011 15:52 Go to next message

I'm trying to build a platform independent SWT project with Maven, which automatically gets the needed SWT dependency depending on the current platform.
But I found out that there seems to be no Maven repository at all which provides these dependencies (not to mention recent versions like 3.6/3.7). There are only some artifacts scattered in some repos for old SWT versions, for example the Jboss Nexus has some (very few) artifacts:

My question is, WHY is there no Maven repository for these dependencies, is there a good reason? Or is it just not needed? But then how can I build an SWT application without having to provide the binaries together with the project?

Sorry, my post is a duplicate:

A related (open) issue exists since 3.4. So it takes more than 4 years to find the right Maven repository structure.
