The roadmap pages haven't been updated for a while. Would anyone know the status of PDT - teams, development, future plans? If there is a stall or change in organization, maybe someone can let the community know so others can join the project if help is needed.

Thanks for the all the work.

I don't know, but I agree that it seems to be abandoned. Hopefully it's just temporary. I read a good article about the difference between PDT and PHPEclipse. The basic difference is that PDT comes from Zend Studio. The folks at Zend don't put very much effort into PDT because they would rather have us buy and use Zend Studio rather than Eclipse. Call me cynical, but I don't expect a lot of advancement in PDT features. It's been said that those that coordinate the PDT project don't accept patches for it, especially if it includes new features.

I've tried PHPEclipse and I found it better in some ways, worse in others. I settled on using PDT because its word completion is better. I wish I knew Java much better and had more for personal development. I'd love to improve PHPEclipse.

Hum, that's a bit of a shame really.

I have been looking after my site for a few years using nothing more
than Notepad++ but over the past month or so, I have been using PDT.

I would hate to get used to a new tool that is no longer supported.

Having said that I am happy with what it offers now, so even with no
updates I can live with the one or two current bugs, (and work around
the big bugs).

Personally I think that PHPEdit and Zend studio are far too expensive
for what they offer, (I mean, $299 is a bit on the steep side I think).

I don't mind spending a buck or two, but for a week-end developer this
is a bit much.

Can you suggest any other IDE that I could look into?

Hi there!

I think it's not dead at all. Rolling Eyes
At least the developers mailing list suggests this (see here or here): latest Hudson build is from June 2, 2011.

If you'd like to try the latest developments (Eclipse Indigo RC3 with PDT 3.0) you might want to check this guide: http://aaronbonner.tumblr.com/post/6035060125/installing-pdt-3-on-indigo-rc2.

By the way: can anyone tell me how I could contribute to the Eclipse for PHP Developers/PDT project? I'd like to either contribute by software development or even just by helping to update the web pages and the wiki.

How would I actually get in contact with the actual developers? (guess most of them work at Zend, right?)

Regards, Carsten

Hi Carsten, I would recommend tweeting to @royganor on twitter. He's actively involved with the project and can point you in the right direction.
