How do I get Eclipse to open png files with the Windows default? I double-click the png file and it opens it up in the editor, and there's a bunch of gobbledy-gook there. I'm using Windows 7, but it would nice to know how to do it for Windows XP as well.

By default, if you have the .png file associated in the OS, Eclipse should use this associaton.

If this is not working, check it's NOT associated in Windows\Preferences\General\Editors\File Association

For checking the OS association, just double click the file in Explorer.
