Please excuse me if this has been asked and answered but I'm an extreme noob and can't find a direct answer via Google.
I want to set up a connection profile to a SQL Server 2008 database using Eclipse JEE Europa. I have done this with MySQL so I'm somewhat familiar with the process.
I select File>New>Other from the menus, expand Connection Profiles, and select Connection Profile. I then click Next, select Generic JDBC Connection and click Next again. I type in a name for the connection profile (e.g., localhost.DBName) and click Next. I then click on the ellipses button to display the Available Driver Definitions dialog. In the tree on the left, I see nodes for SQL Server 2000 and 2005 but not for 2008.
Now that I've set the background, here are my questions:
1) Can one add a new node to Available Driver Definitions tree?
2) If so, how?
3) If not, can I use the 2005 JDBC driver with SQL Server 2008?
4) If not, can I use the 2008 JDBC driver under the SQL Server>2005 node? (I've downloaded and installed the latest MS JDBC driver for SQL Server 2008.)
I know these questions might be simplistic or naive but I'm just starting out and can really use the help.

I can tell you that you're doing the right thing in terms of how to
install the MS SQL JDBC driver.
Far be it from me to tell you that you can't use Europa any more. I used
it until a couple of years ago, but there have been 3 other solid
releases of Eclipse since then and we're on the cusp of yet a fourth.
The point is, I can't remember the exact steps and surrounding
complications of JDBC driver definition in Europa and I don't have a
copy any more to try it out on. The upshot of what I'm saying is that if
you upgrade to Helios, which is a very stable and well behaved version
of Eclipse, you're likely to get better and quicker answers.
There is at least a chance that this problem will go away with an
installation of Galileo or Helios. To try (just that much) would
probably only cost you half an hour while you're waiting for the right
person to come along.
Cheers
