Hello

I am a bit confused about the status of the b3 project.

At EclipseCon 2010 and Eclipse Summit Europe 2010 the new build
replacing Buckminster and eventually the (in)famous pde build,
was one of the omnipotent topics.

However I observed that the activity on the project became very
low and at EclipseCon 2011 Tycho was the only build present at all.

So, I wonder what's cooking at b3?

Michael

Hi Michael,
The b3 aggregator is very much live and kicking - it is used to assemble
the Eclipse Simultaneous Release (Helios and now Indigo).

The b3 build language is designed and implemented and has been used in a
project to publish p2 repositories programatically. This project may
find its way into open source as it is both a very useful tool and
showcases some of unique traits of the b3 language.

This Cloudsmith blog post http://blog.cloudsmith.com/?p=111 pretty much
sums up what Cloudsmith is doing with respect to Eclipse in particular.
There are other posts as well if you are interested what is keeping us
busy...

Meanwhile - the Buckminster project is production quality and continues
to be very much alive and kicking.

Regards
- henrik
