Recently I updated our BIRT servers to 2.6.2 to fix another issue that .1 had with leaving files open. After the jump, I ran across another problem with the viewer--it was eating up memory like there was no tomorrow.

This problem seems to be documented all over the place, but I have yet to come across a concrete solution / cause of the problem. Does anyone have a fix buried in their bookmarks or know of a cause / fix? I would file a bug, but I have already seen some listed that are marked as duplicates of other bugs which are either resolved (but with no fix listed) or untouched.

I have used JRockit, and the traditional Sun JVM. I have used Tomcat 5.5 as well as 6, and played with different GC methods and memory sizes.

Bottom line: When running reports, eventually (< 500 reports) the Heap space in the JVM gets exhausted, and Tomcat blows up on generating a response.

Yes, I have changed the memory sizes. Even with a max heap of 2 gigs, max perm of 512m it still blows out of space after several hundred reports.

Any ideas?

Logan,

Can you post one of the bugs you are referring to?
I believe it would still be a good idea to open another for this.
