From your point of view, what are the most important changes in TPTP for the
upcoming Callisto release? That is, what are the significant improvements
since the last major release of TPTP?

I think it would be hard to argue against the Automated GUI Recorder as
being the hit of the show so far. [After EclipseCon and the subsequent
traffic here on eclipse.tptp... if this were basketball, Ali's agent
would be announcing a new multi-million-dollar contract! :-)]

Not as "splashy", but very important from my point of view, is the
statistical analysis engine and rules (for Java... I'd love to say for
C++ also, but no one's had time to get a good set of rules there).

The most important *change* (IMHO) is the "new technology agent
controller" operating in backward compatibility mode (affectionately
known as AC/BC) ... though in reality this is only "important" insofar
that the change is invisible! People really shouldn't even really have
to be aware the change has been made in order for the change to be
successful.

The most significant improvement... that would have to be Callisto
itself, and thus TPTP's role in that "train". The "ease of integration"
factor Callisto provides is the big win for 4.2. Also,
performance/ease-of-use feature improvements in the 4.2 IAC probably fit
in the same category as the AC/BC... the less you notice it, the better
it is.

I'm sure I've missed a bunch, but that's it from my (personal) point of
view.

Just to add to Randy's note...

From bugzilla it looks like there have been 77 enhancements implemented
since the start of TPTP 4.2. You can do a simple query in bugzilla to
find them. Two other features I like to add to Randy's note are:

- Aggregating Agent and
- Dynamic instrumentation of java applications

Thanks Randy for the complements but keep in mind that the Automated GUI
Recorder is still a tech preview and won't be part of Callisto.

Here are a number of exciting technologies popping out as tech previews
(sorry, they won't be available in Callisto):

1) JVMTI agent

2) ARM/CBE/JMX application instrumentation

3) WSDM agent with a generalized management resource view that will be used
by WSDM and JMX

They're all expected to be out in 4.2 i3.
