Hi,

after following the installation process as described in the EPF Wiki Installation Guide for Ubuntu ( http://wiki.eclipse.org/EPF_Wiki_Installation_Guide_for_Ubun tu), I have a running and working EPF Wiki_r1_5_20081021_0316.

Comparing my installation to the EPF Wiki at http://epf.eclipse.org my installation is missing the search field and button.

Unfortunately I can't find any information how to install or enable the search, neiter in the user, installation, developer guide, or in one ot the settings of EPF Wiki itself.

Could anyone give me a hint, how to install or activate the search feature?

Kind regards

square

Hi square,
There is no search functionality in EPF Wiki. http://epf.eclipse.org uses Google custom to provide search functionality.

You can configure your installation to use this custom search check for example the setting in production.rb
ENV['EPFWIKI_GOOGLE_CUSTOM_SEARCH'] = 'N'
If you set this to 'Y' a search box will be included.

However....... this is only an example because if you use this search functionality you will be using the online search at http://epf.eclipse.org.

You could possible substitute in your own search provider but as Google search is only useful for sites on the internet this probably won't be very useful. I am assuming your site is on a intranet of course.

I tried to donate a search solution called 'Ferret' with EPF Wiki but this failed to pass Eclipse Legal. Provenance issues.

So 'no' search I'm afraid.
Best Regards,
Onno

Hi Onno,

Can you recommend a third-party search engine other than Google (we're not allowed to use google)? We'd really like to deploy the wiki site but with search functionality.

Thanks,
Redge
