PDE has only one wizard [message #655471] Mon, 21 February 2011 10:07 Go to next message

I'm starting up in creating plugins, and I'm following the instructions found in "building Commercial Quality Plug-ins" edition from 2006 (eclipse 3.3 was the latest at that time).

The book mentions to use (at least for the first example) one of the templates available from the project wizard.

My problem is that I see available only one template:
"custom plug-in wizard".

Where can I get the others?

Thanks,
Giulio

Where did you download Eclipse and which version? You need
org.eclipse.pde.templates plugin in your installation.

I got Eclipse from eclipse.org, it's helios SR1.

I downloaded PDE from the install source: at http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/pde/visualization/update s

I've checked, indeed the org.eclipse.pde.templates plugin is missing from my list.

I'll check out where to get it. from the update site mentioned I only see PDE Visualization available.

Am I missing anything else that I would like to have?

thanks,
Giulio

Which package of Helios you downloaded? Did you download the one that
has PDE?

See: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/compare.php

I have the Java simple version (first column).

I'm also having trouble using the code assist and finding sourcecode and apidoc for the PDE and SWT libs...

Can I add the templates to mine? or should I download the proper plugin version?

thanks,
Giulio
