Hello everybody,

I am currently working on the Unicase project and we are looking for an "Automatic Bug Reporting in Eclipse" tool with the following required features:

- A listener to recognize that an error has occurred. This listener
should include the error log as well as runtime exceptions.
- An ability to filter the listener by different categories such as by
packages or projects, i.e. org.unicase.*, Emf, etc. Depending
on the filter, the UI for reporting the bug appears.
- A UI element showing the relevant errors and collected
information such as operating system, java version, and
target definition. The collected information should be
transparent for the user for privacy reasons.
- Sending the collected data to a specified email address,
bugzilla or google group.

During our research we found the Riena Client Monitor.

The questions are, can the Client Monitor be used or modified to fit our requirements and is it possible to use it independently without the whole Riena project and/or can the Client Monitor be integrated into, in our case, Unicase?

Sincerely,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Actually Stefan Liebig could go more into detail and answer your question. He is sick and is hopefully back tomorrow.
Please hold on to your question until tomorrow..... :-)

Hi Tobias,

Have you read the Getting Started with Client Monitoring?

Riena's CM is intended for collecting various data of a client and transmitting "relevant" data silently to a server WITHOUT user introspection. This is a demand of lots of our customers which create "closed" application systems.

Your requirements can not be supported out-of-the-box. Although replacing some components of the CM may get you closer to that what you need.
Riena's CM relies only on Riena's base functionality (e.g. Service and extension injection) that is within riena.core.

hth,
Stefan

Thx for the answer, but we already worked out another solution for our project.
