Hi,

We are just evaluating EGit for the CDO project and we are facing issues with the Synchronize view:

1. It takes almost indefinitely to complete a synchronization. We thought everything should be faster comapred to CVS because the git clone is local ;-(

2. If we really sit down one or two hours (!) to wait for the synchronization to complete then it just disappears after a restart of Eclipse. No matter whether the synchronization was pinned or not.

Are we doing something wrong?

Hi,

I don't think you are doing something wrong. There are currently
severy performance problems with synchronize view (and also
with the decoration process). We know about it. But the good news
are: we currently have a EGit/Gerrit/Mylyn Workshop for the complete week. One topic is 'synchronize view performance' and I hope that we can do a big improvement on that topic until friday.

That's good news ;-)

Do you, by chance, have an idea why all projects are decorated with this gray cross directly after checkout? Any attempt to commit something wants to commit removal of all elements then.

BTW., in this particular aspect the Synchronize view does better than the rest (decoration, commit dialog, ...). It only shows the "real" changes, not 40000 removals...
