Hi everybody,

I have a huge problem.

On my MacBook Pro Eclipse Helios doesn't work.
I have all software-updates.

When i want to start Eclipse, after some loading an error window pops up.

It says:

An error has occured: See the log file.....

the log file is huge and I don't know what to do.
So I have VMWare and started it on my windows7 partition, where the same error took place.

So at this time I'm very helpless and I've searched the Web, but there is no answear for me.

Would be very nice, if anybody has an answear for me.
And if anybody has.... it would be best, if the solution is easy explained....

Flo

Hi

> I would be thankful for each idea.
My idea is that more information on your setup and the problem greatly
enhances the chance of getting a helpful answer. Try providing more
information along these topics:
- java version (to get it open a console and type "java -version")
- the exact eclipse version (which zip/tar.gz file did you download)
- how you unziped/unarchived it
- how do you run Eclipse (command line, doubleclicking, ...)
- are we talking about a plain vanilla eclipse or did you change/extend
anything (additional plugins, edit eclipse.ini, ...)
- The error message and stack trace from the .log file are essential
(move the file away, run Eclipse again --> only logs from one run in
the newly created log)
- have you tried running Eclipse from the command line? (you might want
to add the options -consoleLog -debug and -noExit to get the most
debug output about your problem)

Okay, I try to give you the information you need. Sry, it's the first time, that I have to seek for help in a forum like this

java version:

java version "1.6.0_22"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_22-b04-307-10M3261)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.1-b03-307, mixed mode)

eclipse version:
eclipse-java-helios-SR1-macosx-cocoa-x86_64.tar.gz
i have doubleclicked it, so it unpacked automatically (on mac)
i used winrar to unzip it and unpacked the whole thing in a folder (on windows)
I run the program by doubleclicking it

Yes, we are talking about the vanilla eclipse, it's the normal downloadable version, withput any further configurations

The error message says:
see the log file and then the path to the log file, which leads to the configurations folder.
each time I try to run it, a new log file is created, but i don't know what you mean with stack trace

no, i have not tried to run it out of the console, would i make a difference? If yes, can you tell me how to start it via the terminal?

I hope this helps you, if there are any further questions, that would help, helping me, please ask. I try to answear as quick as possible
