Hi

I just saw the ECF remote services webinar and the Virgo webinar. I
would like to know if is a good idea to implement a remote service with
ZooKeeper as shown on top of Virgo OR will Virgo handle ECF without
ZooKeeper. Also is there an example of using ECF with Virgo?

thanks

Ah... found this wiki page... but still a little confused about Spring
dm since the Virgo webinar says that Virgo should not be confused with
Sping DM... Oh well... guess it will sort itself out in the end.

Hi Hugo,

it depends what your use case is like. Zookeeper is one of ECF's
discovery provider you can pick and choose from. You might as well use a
different one (SLP, mDNS, file based, DNS-SD) or implement your own.

WRT Virgo there appear to be some problems on the Virgo end [0]. But to
me it looks like as if this hasn't been fully identified as a real bug yet.

There is not (yet) an example of using ECF remote services with Virgo. There are some folks e.g. [1] that have run ECF remote services on Virgo...there was apparently some issue with getting one of the Equinox dependencies running in Virgo [2], but I think that was worked out.

We would like to have examples of ECF remote services running on Virgo...but currently don't have resources to do the development ourselves. Contributions are very welcome.

WRT Zookeeper...it should be possible to use the Zookeeper discovery just by including the bundles from the appropriate feature...i.e. there is a feature that includes the Zookeeper provider along with the Apache Zookeeper dependency.
