Miles/all,

I was happy to see, STEM, UOMo or AMP were not only all hit by non-interest
from the current EclipseCon program group (despite EMF's Ed is on it, but
there's just too much and maybe we need more Modeling Days again, too ?;-)
just like Agile, BPEL or other more domain-related topics.

I also saw your post in Bugzilla confirming, you have some of the same
problems with EGit. Hope, they'll fix it not just talk about the problems at
EclipseCon, but following the inability to include a decent amount of
Healthcare or Biotech topics I asked Mike whom I may meet early Jan for a
JCP event if he's interested to speak with STEM lead Jamie Kaufmann and
myself on that occasion.

The AMP frontpage contains many links to disease models or healthcare
related topics. Plus the logo even looks a bit like a bug or microbe ;-)
Would you or users of AMP therefore consider yourself interested in such
Healthcare Day? Time and location is still under discussion, which is why
we're happy about further input both for topics and suggestions or even an
invitation to host it.

Happy Holidays,

Hi Werner,

That's a bummer about STEM and UOMo . Sad I had the same kind of issue last year because of limited potential audience so this time around as I think you can see from abstract really pitched AMP's broader usage. My experience at modeling days was that people still don't really get why people would want to model real world processes.

I'm going to talk to the program committee about at least one idea for this. Having never been to an EclipseCon, I'm guessing that the talks are all basically in the same size venue. I think perhaps it would make sense to have some more domain centric smaller rooms / talks setup for more narrowly focussed or domain oriented stuff. Seems a shame to have so many people working on similar things and not have a chance to have others hear about it. If you'll send me a slide or two describing your work, I'll put it into my talk to mention other efforts at Eclipse. And let's to setup at least an informal BoF for science, modeling and simulation at EclipseCon.

I think Health Care days sounds like a really good idea, I'm just not sure that I can justify the travel as I don't have a customer base there right now. That could change of course, and I do know some people who are doing absolutely fascinating things with ABM and health care now (such as studying traumatic inflammatory response) but they are not really Eclipse users. Smile Still, please keep me in the loop.

cheers,

Miles
