Is there a way to turn off the p2 garbage collector for a shared install
feature based product?

We use p2 to manage our shared product. The key point is we share one
product installation across the corporation. We are having problems with the
p2 garbage collector removing old plugins that are still being used by
users.

Our users will run our product for three or four weeks without exiting.
During that time we could update the product numerous times. The p2 garbage
collector deletes old plugins. Many of these plugins need to be available
for users running an older version of the product. It also means we can not
revert to anything older than the previous installation.

We are using Eclipse 3.6.1 and Centos 5.4.

Thanks,
David Kyle

Hello,
did you find a solution? We need to disable the p2 garbage collector for updates because there are files which are locked and can't be deleted, so the update process fails.
Thx
