Hello,

I'm considering to use Epsilon EGL in my projects since it is a very promising generator tool. However, I want to package all my templates together in a dedicated plugin and later on, maybe that I have to change some stuff within these templates. I want to do it non-invasively similar to Xpand's (oAW) aspect-oriented AROUND blocks.

Is there a way (planned) to do so also with Epsilon?

Cheers
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your interest. I'm afraid that there's nothing like Xpand's AROUND construct in EGL right now.

It might be possible to achieve something similar (albeit with more manual work) using user-defined operations.

Hope that helps a little...

Cheers,
Louis.

Hey Louis,

thanks for the fast response!!! I will have a look on user-defined operations and maybe that I come back to that thread if I have further questions.

Thanks again!

Cheers
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

You may want to have a look at
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=325987 This has code that
will eventually be integrated into Epsilon EGL to allow for
aspect-oriented code generation, although in a slightly different manner
from how XPand does it. There is a paper on this new approach as well,
however unfortunately it has not yet been published. If you are
interested, send me an email and I can let you have the PDF.

Best regards,

Steffen
