Hi,

This is a GeoSpatial Event in California next year:

Not sure, if it's a perfect match for STEM, but at least it doesn't seem too
far from Almaden ;-)

Sorry having to inform you, neither STEM nor any other "Domain Specific"
topic including UOMo and others were invited to EclipseCon 2011.

It is neither against STEM or UOMo as it seems, but the focus really tends
to be entirely on Tools and the traditional IDE side of Eclipse, not the
whole Ecosystem.
With many Healthcare talks, some extremely well received even in the big
auditorium like Cerner Healthcare, 2010 was quite different. Elexis was a
bit of a niche as it targets primarily the European market (which is why I
didn't bother submitting it again this year) but none of those were accepted
this year. Same for other keywords like Finance, Banking or Investment. With
the single exception of OSGi DevCon having "Banking on OSGi".

If those banking and FX guys still use OSGi Measurement, why not, but OUMo
Business is clearly superior, the concept of any conversion is unknown to
the OSGi framework and Peter Kriens told me, he wanted it that way. Clearly
not a basis for currency conversion.

I believe it was Stefan, who is in Africa these days. Maybe he can tell us
more in the next call(s) about prospects and demands for STEM there.
One chance for a proposal although a JUG event is this conference by the
most popular JUG:
http://weblogs.java.net/blog/bonbhel/archive/2011/01/01/jcer tif-2011-biggest-java-community-even

They also offer a combination of Java EE Container (Glassfish) and Eclipse
RCP app for organizing events. Might be used for other events, and shows,
that JUG isn't afraid of Eclipse either. Given some of the diseases are
haunting Africa or other tropic countries most, I would give it a try.

Maybe a discussion point for one of the next calls.
