How can I have a Draw2d button event start a request ? [message #638774]

I have a tree structure in my editor and I want to putt buttons on it to add and delete items from the tree. I have some vague idea about what I need to do but I really don't know how to start a request from within the Draw2d figure or if I should even start it there.

Any examples of something like this out there ?
