You're using the UML2 Tools project or Papyrus for representing these

What exactly are you hoping to accomplish? XMI is just a persistence
format, i.e., your model instances can be written out as XMI and read
back in. Projects like UML2 and Papyrus provide resource
implementations that will do this for you. The introductory overview
describes in general how resources are loaded using a resource set and
how they are saved, so have a look at that too.
