Dear All,
i am trying to get my BIRT designer up and running with Microsoft SQL
Server 2008 and sqljdbc4.jar.
I've copied the files to the drivers directory of my BIRT designer
directory and into the jre6/lib/ext directory. As well as the
sql_auth.dll into windows\system32 directory.
When i'm entering the Server connection, everything looks fine. But
trying to create a connections throws an error: "Ping failed" and the
detailled message says: you need to use sqljdbc4.jar with Java 6 instead
of sqljdbc.jar.
I can't find the sqljdbc.jar file on my filesystem.
Is there any hint ?
Does BIRT 2.6.1 support Microsofts JDBC 3.0 driver with integrated
security at all?
Is the observed behaviour an error in BIRT Designer ?
Any hint is welcome.
p.s.: with SquirrelSQL, the database can be accessed without any error.

Holger,
Did you make any progress on this?
I assume you are using Java 6?

Hi Jason,
yes, i was able to get BIRT Designer up and running by using the JTDS
driver (with useNTLMv2 switch) instead of the Microsoft SQL driver.
But i didn't try out so far how the BIRT report-viewer Webapp will
behave under Tomcat 6 / Java 6 on Windows OS, if users will access the
reports via Internet-Explorer.
SSO and session path through is available for Actuate as far as i know
so far. For me it would be sufficient to have a BIRT extension to import
the username from NTLM as Report parameter for filtering.
I don't know if there is something already discussed here.
by the way: if anyone was able to get
Yours,
Holger
