If you want a good solution that introduces a transformation from BPMN
to BPEL, please check out the Intalio|Designer.
Intalio|Server integrates with JBI (only as part of the enterprise
edition), however we have no support for SCA.

Concerning SCA, I suggest Apache Tuscany [0] (or Frascati [1] for
research purpose).
I lack perspective concerning the other runtimes (durability,
reliability, coverage of the specifications).

below

You could check FUSE - http://open.iona.com/ - which contains tested and
bundled versions
of Apache ServiceMix, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Camel and Apache CXF.

weeks/month. We decided to replace our proprietary SOA solution with
complete Open Source products.

Hi Michael,

Sorry i give the following response to the wrong thread.
By the way take a look at spagic here http://spagic.org

It's a project based on stp intermediate model. Basically you could

1) start to model your process at high level with bpmn modeler,

2) than you could annotate the bpmn diagram with jbi services, and then
generate
3) Generate the intermediate model and
4) then get a running service assembly for servicemix.

3) Keep monitored your process execution with spagic console.

The first three features are provided to you by eclipse stp, the code
generator is spagic stuff.
The good thing is that spagic stuff is LGPL licensed.

That's cool - Open Source is the way to go for your plumbing
needs :) There's a lot out there. One thing that's pretty important
if you are moving on is keeping in mind the skills of your
developers. If you are replacing your existing SOA gear with
new, no doubt you are looking for longevity in the new approach
and you want to keep your developer hiring and education costs
down.

From the STP point of view I'm very interested in knowing what
the different types of developers/analysts/etc that you have with
your current approach. This would be good information for us
when we are thinking about filling-out and expanding the project.

Do you have information that you could share?

Open source software can be a great help to teaching organizations.

Also, teaching organizations can be a great help to Open Source software :)
It's often the case that students can make really good contributions to
Open Source projects - for example as part of the Google Summer of Code
initiative (we had experience of this in the IM component this year).
