ECF generic server down for while [message #609293]

Hi Folks,

The ECF generic server available at ecftcp://ecf.eclipse.org:3282/server
is going to be down for a while (today, Tues Nov 28 and perhaps tomorrow
Wed 29), for upgrade to version 0.9.3. Once this upgrade is complete it
will be necessary for people to use 0.9.3 or better to use this server.

Please let me (slewis@composent.com) know if this creates a problem for
anyone.

All the documentation I have found so far on running your own ECF server
refers to a startup shell script that is no longer in the build.
ecf.eclipse.org seems to be hosted as a tomcat servlet (is this
correct). Are there any quickstart guides on how to set this up?

The server "feature" has the shell scripts.

You can also start it within Eclipse yourself if you have the code checked
out.

If you take the second route, you can copy the command line argument
that's used by checking the process's properties in the "Debug" view and
then just paste it in the command line and start it that way.

I believe that's how it is but I'm not sure if we have any documentation
for that, someone else might know though.

Hope this helps. We'll be adding to the server stuff for 0.9.7 so the
configuration of the ECF server is easier.
