Digvijay,
This question is better asked on the UML2 newsgroup, so I've added that
the "to" list. My understanding is that profiles provide a "light
weight" extension mechanism for UML. I.e., you don't have to derived
new UML classes with additional property but rather apply a profile so
you can associate such properties directly with instances of the base
model so that your profile could be applied to any existing UML2 instance.
