Hi,

Maybe my perspective layout is a bit unusual as my Tasks view is a fast
view.
I wish I'd have a key binding to open the Task editor for the current
task without
going through any intermediary UI like the Tasks view or the Tasks dialog.
Do you think it's worth a Bugzilla?

Another nice feature would be a better feedback about the current task.
For example in the main window title bar the name of the current
perspective is shown.
Do you think it's possible to show the title of the current task in the
window title bar?
Maybe this could be configurable in the preferences...

Cheers
/Eike

Yes, certainly. I have wanted that for a while but have been using the trim
widget instead which displays a clickable link with the currently active
task (see below).

If you install the UI Experiments feature from the incubator update site you
can enable a trim widget that displays the currently active task. Please
file a bug and let us know if you have other ideas such as displaying it in
the window title bar.

The trim widget been in the incubator probably for nearly 2 years now.
What is actually preventing from bringing it into the standard UI?

Hi Steffen,

The trim widget is exactly what I need!! ;-)

It's a bit strange that it occupies space in the the main tool bar even
if it's *not* switched on throught the prefs.
And I couldn't find a key binding...

Thank you for the hint!
/Eike

You can drag it around. I usually move it into the status bar at the
bottom.

That is one of the usability reasons why the trim is not part of the main
distribution, yet. It is related to this bug:

201589: [Contributions] visibleWhen has no effect on toolbar
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=201589

> And I couldn't find a key binding...

Please file a bug for that :).

As far as I remember that issue had been worked around.

The trim is not hidden until after it has been added to the toolbar and
therefore leaves a blank space (in the top left corner by default). As a
workaround you can enable it, drag it to a different location where it
doesn't affect other toolbars and then disable it. There are ways to fix
that but it would require usage of platform internals.
