Hello,

I tried to check out the following Eclipse project.

git://dev.eclipse.org/org.eclipse.pde/org.eclipse.pde.core.g it

From the branches I selected "main".

Eclipse froze and the screen said "Intializing repository" stayed
approx. 5 minutes before I killed Eclipse via the task manager. During
that time the harddisk was working really hard.

Is that expected? Could you perhaps add a process indicator so that the
user get feedback. Or even better move the check process into a
background process?
