empty statistics view [message #57928] Tue, 14 March 2006 13:40 Go to next message

Hi,

To evaluate TPTP I'm profiling a local Java application. The application
runs and terminates correctly and when I choose to output the results to a
file TPTP does indeed write values to this file. However, when I try to open
any of the views after profiling I only get empty views containing the
message "No data is available for display". Refreshing or choosing different
filters doesn't help.
But, if I import the contents of the output file that was saved to disk I
can see the results.
Now, I should be able to get the results without doing the import right? Did
anyone encounter similar problems?

This is my current config:

Eclipse 3.1.2
TPTP 3.1.0
XML Schema Infoset Model (XSD) 2.1.1
EMF SDK 2.1.2

Did you mean TPTP *4*.1.0? Otherwise, this combination pre-dates my
experience with TPTP...

How did you open the other views? With "Show View"? Instead, right click
on the application in the profiling window and "Open With" the view you
want instead. Or, if the view is already open, use the "Link with
Viewer" button (opposing yellow arrows). The view has to be associated
with the data being gathered in order to display it. Is lack of
association the problem you're running into?

Note that you can't profile to a file and view the results in the
workbench *at the same time*. If you profile to a file then your views in
the workbench won't be populated. To view your profiling results in the
workbench do this:

In your profile launch configuration, click on the profiling tab -> select
the destination sub-tab -> make sure 'send profiling data to a file' is
unchecked -> switch to the overview sub-tab -> click on the add button to
create a new profiling set -> next -> select the profiling options that
you want. If you want graphical details, you have to have execution time
analysis selected and click on the 'show execution flow graphical details'
radio button -> next -> set your filterset -> finish.

Use this profiling set to profile your application.
