Hi Dean,
This is my personal preference and as the saying goes, your mileage may
vary, but from my experience of working on a 3.x based RCP application,
I can safely say that eclipse RCP is a mixed blessing.
On some level it is not all too hard to jump in and get some basic thing
off the ground, but on the other hand the whole framework is kind of
inflexible and sometimes you'll have to resort to extensively working
around those inflexibilities.
Although I've not had any significant development experience with e4
yet, I must say that the overall platform looks and sounds more like an
adequate fit for the application I am currently building and maintaining.
If you are just starting to develop your java GUI, I'd strongly suggest
taking a look at e4 and making use of it's infinitely more flexible
architecture.
