Cambridge, England – Software Acumen today announced the availability of
pure::variants Server Edition – a new addition to the pure::variants
toolset developed by pure-systems GmbH.

Based on Eclipse, pure::variants supports embedded software development by
managing the process of producing multiple variants of the same software –
an increasingly complex problem for embedded developers. The toolset works
by allowing developers to create a Software Product Line – much like a car
assembly line- but for assembling software. Once a software product line
has been created new software variants can be assembled quickly and
reliably.

pure::variants Server Edition extends the support offered for
collaborative Software Product Line development found in previous versions
of pure::variants.

With Server Edition, the Feature and Family models that represent the
organisation's product line are developed in a shared, central repository.
Access to models and model elements is controlled through roles to ensure
that confidential model data is kept secure and to allow some types of
changes to models to be be made only by authorised users. Furthermore, all
modifications made by a user are immediately available to other users.
This supports effective collaborative development both within the
organisation and across organisations in the supply chain.
