Fail to execute "An Introduction to Using TPTP's Automated GUI Recorder" [message #56275] Fri, 03 March 2006 14:04 Go to next message

Hi,

When trying to perform "An Introduction to Using TPTP's Automated GUI
Recorder", I got stucked in section 2.2.3 (trying to launch the recorded
suite in standard mode), with the following error message : "IWAT4039E
The Test Execution Harness reported the following
problems:org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException, and the stack below in
the log file. Looking for a hint, I wondered if I had to manually launch
the Agent Controller before this step, so I tried to launch RAServer.exe
from a command shell, but it still fails with same symptoms...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

Which driver are you using?
Are you having a similar problem when running any other test suite? Can you
test this by launching a manual test suite. The test execution harness is
shared between all test types and I would like to know if this problem is
auto gui specific or caused by the execution harness.

Can you make sure that before you start RAServer.exe, you don't have any
zombie Java processes running:
- Quit your workbench
- Check your task manager to ensure that you don't have any zombie Java
processes running in the background (this can be caused by previous errors
that may have been caused by the execution harness). Kill all zombie
processes that may be running
- Start RAServer.exe
- Start the workbench.

From your previous post (which I just found), it seems that the execution
job gets stuck at 60%. I haven't had anyone reporting any similar problem.
Can you include any information that may help me debug your problem (e.g.
whether you've specified a different workbench to use as your context than
the workbench that is being used to do the recording)?

Thanks.

Hi Ali,

Thank you for your precious help !

As I'm new to TPTP, I'm not very familiar with your vocabulary, but I
gonna try to answer to your questions. My answers inline below...

Thank you again,

Sebastien

Hmm, what do you mean by "driver" ? I guess you're talking about the
"agent controller" : I downloaded and unzipped the
tptpdc.win_ia32-TPTP-4.1.0.1.zip file. If this is not what you wanted to
know, feel free to ask me again :)

I'm used to launch PDE JUnit tests, and I never faced such a problem.

I already performed these operation a handful of times, without success.

Well, Since my post, I succeeded in executing the suite in "standard
mode", by selecting "AutoGuiDeployment" instead of "local_deployment" in
the "Run" wizard (as mentioned in the tutorial), but didn't exactly
understand the difference between these two options.

I'm glad that you were able to at least run it using a custom deployment.
The AutoGuiDeployment must be a deployment file that you've created. See
Help contents > TPTP Tester Guide > Common Testing Tasks and Concepts >
Creating a test deployment for more info.

The local_deployment is a built-in deployment file that allows users to
launch test suites locally.
