Hello,

Is the iText.jar included or needed in the BIRT 2.6.0?

There is a guide

5. Copy iText.jar to the platform/plugins/com.lowagie.itext/lib directory. If the directory does not exist, create it

in the BIRT version 2.1 guide:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Servlet_Example_%28BIRT%29_2.1

I'm asking this because for my customer the GPL and maybe AGPL license (the license of the iText) are not ok.

Do you know if the BIRT 2.6.0 includes any libraries or plugins etc., which have some GPL license? (GPL, LGPL, NPL 1.1, AGPL etc.)

BR,

Mika

I believe that you need to be careful on your version of iText. You want:
iText PDF library Version: 1.5.4

This version is dual licensed under MPL / LGPL (you should choose Mozilla
Public License)

The more recent versions of iText (5+) are now licensed under AGPL.

There is a discussion of the license change here: http://itext-general.2136553.n4.nabble.com/Silent-license-ch ange-td2156060.html
and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IText

As to what this means going forward (in future versions of BIRT) it is an
issue that we will be wrestling with for the Indigo release (tentative BIRT
4.0.0)

Hello,

Is there the iText library inside the Birt 2.6.0 runtime? Or in the designer.

I haven't found it from the 150 jars or plugins of the runtime. But it is possible that I didn't noticed it.

BR,

Mika
