Hi,

I've used eclipse for two mounts and everything works fine.
My OS is Windows 7 64 bit,
Eclipse distribution - eclipse-jee-helios-win32-x86_64

Today when I started the startup window freeze on message loading workbench and after sometime shows message 'Java was started but returned exit code -805306369

I found a simmilar post
http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&goto=54681 0&
which describes that the problem is connected to Java 6 Update 21. I'm using Java 6 Update 20 and try to reinstall it but this didn't help

My eclipse.ini file

-startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.1.0.v20100507.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_64_1.1. 0.v20100503
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
256M
-vm
C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_20/bin/javaw.exe
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
256m
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m

I don't know how to deal with this problem. Can someone help me ?

The problem with Java 6_21 has been resolved by the latest JDK/JRE
release (see
http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=171988& amp;start=0&S=266f7beb8be3e93f478773429bafd031)
try uninstalling and re-installing it.

I'm using Java 6 Update 20 and try to reinstall it but this didn't help. Please read my post before answer. I've wrote it in my first post one mount ago.
God save eclipse users.

Is there a reason not to use update 21 now that it works? You ask for
advice and one of the foremost experts in the forum gives it to you. You
should try it; it won't cost you but maybe 10 minutes.

Download update 21 and unzip/install it to your local user. Then, wire
up eclipse.ini to point to it, according to the instructions at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse.ini, and attempt to launch.

If you have the latest and greatest on your host, it's easier to support
you because it reduces the number of variables.

I had a similar problem and installing update 21 solved it. I would not use update 20.
