Can't display Chart or Image in Excel export [message #555326]

Hi,
Problem: When exporting report with charts or images inside to xls format, there's no display of charts or image in the result, just a blank form with the image size

it's working perfectly with HTML,PDF. But when I tested Excel export,
pictures are not displayed, and charts neither.

Please help me out.

The excel emitter does not support images currently. take a look at
this blogpost for options.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Well, I've tried the Tribix Emitter and not satisfied with its export result in Excel: no respect for the Worksheet Rows and uses different font which I found not as good as BIRT's.

Do you know any other Emitter who does a perfect job?

I do not know of any other open source xls emitters. I know there is a
bugzilla entry to add the chart to the BIRT xls emitter. Also Actuate
has a commercial emitter that is very good.

Thanks again for your reply.

I've tested the Actuate BIRT Report Designer Pro. It does work fine.
But if I purchase it, how can I use its emitters in any standalone Java application.
Like the BIRT open source Eclipse plugin, it has its own Runtime engine librabies, but when it comes to the Actuate BIRT, they kinda use a different prototype for the Excel Emitter, so when I try to use it as the same way as Tribix Emiitter, there are exceptions.

Did I forget sth important or there is another proper way to combine Actuate BIRT and Eclipse?

I believe you can a commercial version of the engine, but I think you
will have to contact Actuate:

Also remember that this is available in Actuate 11 which is releasing in
September.
