Is it possible for a local Eclipse RCP (3.6) app to cache remote help, if it
is being used somewhere where there is no access to the remote information
center?

I have the following requirement:

*The app will sometimes used where there is no internet connectivity
*The app will sometimes connect to get updates
*The app should always remain up to date with help content (i.e the help
will be edited at the remote information center)

If it isn't provided out of the box, I guess the best way would be to
download the updated help content plugin every time there is internet
access???

There is no mechanism for cacheing remote help contents so if you wanted to support keeping the help as up to date as possible you could do the following:

Have a copy of your help installed locally and set up the same books to be accessed remotely. Use the option that was added in Eclipse 3.6.to look for local help first.

Also have an update site which allows for newer content to be installed as it becomes available.

Note that Eclipse 3.6.1, which will be available next month, fixes a couple of bugs in remote help which affect performance.
