Q4E (the proposed initial code contribution for IAM) has released its
0.5.0 version and is moving into 0.6.0.

Current plans include providing increased extensibility allowing third
party plug-ins to play a role in the maven project creation process
(specially for properly configuring eclipse for that particular project).
This should pave the road for WTP integration.

Other available extension points are for archetype providers. For example,
it is possible for third parties to create an archetype provider for the
maven-archetype 2.0 xml format (although this will be officially supported
by q4e, its a great opportunity for a code contribution).

Another area of q4e which could provide extension points in the future is
artifact search. If your artifact repository supports searching, q4e
should allow to use it as a remote service. Third party indexers should
also be integrable in q4e.

What other features would you need for "Eclipse quality" maven integration?

We also have a JFace-based Maven 2 POM editor in the works. I don't know
if it will reach the 0.6.0 mark but we hope it will.
