Layout problem [message #547128] Thu, 15 July 2010 15:54 Go to next message

Hi,

my report layout is as follows and I want to render the report to PDF:

header
-------------------
| name 1 | data 1 |
-------------------
| name 2 | data 2 |
-------------------

The "data" column consists of lots of HTML text. However, as soon as I
insert the data column, all fonts become unreadable small and the table
width then is only about a teneth of the paper width.

What could be wrong?

I suspect either CSS or other style interactions.

Remove all styling and make sure you have no CSS references, then run the report in HTML and also in PDF. See if the issue still arises and whether it appears in all types of report elements or only in specific ones. Also, what are the master page specifications in your report?

I have no styling except that I have specified fonts and font sizes. As
soon as I remove the HTML content, fonts become larger but still too
small. However, the width of the page content is still much too small.

And the master page specifications? Also, is your report (on the layout canvas under properties) set to auto layout or fixed layout?

Actually, best for this is for you to create a similar report against the sample Derby database that ships with BIRT and post that report here. that way we all can run it and see the issue.
