Hi,

I am about 23 minutes into git and egit, and sofar the user guide has
been a pleasure. I have created local repos and committed to my Mac
harddisc. (Wow this is really cool). Now I want to safeguard my work and
share it, so I went along and created a github account, pasted a public
key.

My problem arises when I try to push out my project.
I type git+ssh:// and then paste and immidiatly I get a workbench error
(See attach window shot).

Cannot get remote repository refs
Reason:

git+ssh://git@github.com:dzonekl/db2m.git: java.lang.NullPointerException


So all fails from here....
bummer..so my setup is:

Eclipse 3.5 Galileo SR2 Cocoa 32-bit. ( I am not using the 64-bit, as
it's just not good now).

MacOSX, Snow leopard 10.6.3


Any clue?

If you open the "Error Log" view of eclipse, there should be an entry with the "NullPointerException" stacktrace. Maybe if you post that in addition somebody can quickly have a peek...

I think your github URI is wrong instead of
git+ssh://git@github.com:dzonekl/db2m.git:
shouldn't this rather look like
git+ssh://git@github.com/dzonekl/db2m.git

- usually the first section of the repository path is your github user name
- path separator should be /

see the example in the user guide:

I tried with your URI on WinXP / Helios RC3 / EGit 0.8.1 but couldn't reproduce the NPE. Without a stacktrace I can't analyze this problem.

That depends where the NPE occurs, one out of these plugins:
- org.eclipse.egit.ui
- org.eclipse.egit.core
- org.eclipse.jgit

then in case you happen to come up with a patch it would only take a few more clicks to push it to our code review system Wink
