I have installed the base Eclipse SDK package on Ubuntu 10.04 with no language IDE's present.

Now when I try to install language IDE's (eg. PHP and Aptana Studio v2) I get the following error:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.equinox.p2.updatesite 4 0 2010-05-05 04:53:32.737

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks In Advance

You have to install the eclipse-pde, jdt and plugin-cvs packages before installing subversive. If you installed eclipse from the SoftwareCentre, it has not included all of these packages. If you use synaptic and search you will see these missing packages and can install from there.

Hi Alan, thanks for the response. I installed via Synaptic, and yes when I search Synaptic again those packages are not marked as installed. Will install now and let you know how I get on.

Odd though that they were'nt installed as dependencies?

Thanks
Andrew

Just wanted to say "Thanks" to Alan. Got Eclipse through the Ubuntu Software Center and had the same problem as above.

This may be the wrong place to ask but does anyone know why PDE isn't included with the Eclipse package installed by the USC?

I have the same issue. Unfortunately I don't know what synaptic is yet so I have more work to do to get eclipse to work with android sdk pluggins. Too bad it just doesn't work. I've tried the first ecliplse download. Then did the classic as per developer.android.com/eclipse-adt.html#installing

I bought a book, but all its links are outdated. A list of where to go to get the software to develop hello world for Android would be great. One without bugs.

Ahh; System Administrator Synaptic Package Manager then search for eclipse and it sellected everything needed. Much better than http://developer.android.com/ instructions to download from www.eclipse.org/downloads.

Package manager found cvs, jdt, and pde. Trying to find these packages within the downloaded eclipse didn't work. Under Help Install Software sellecting all available sites, the only cvs I found was for Buckminster. jdt returned nothing and you needed to look under Java Development Tools. Then it said that some of my selections were already installed. Probably because I was missing mainly the cvs...

Using Synaptic Package Manager under ubuntu was much simpler. Thanks for the clues.
