Hi everybody,

I have a problem installing the full Eclipse JDT feature into a recent Buckminster headless installation. Here's what happens:

vh12011:~/buckminster$ ./buckminster install http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/ org.eclipse.jdt
Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
[0]Software being installed: Eclipse Java Development Tools 3.5.2.r352_v20100108-7r88FEwFI0WTuoBl0iaG0tyhfZH6 (org.eclipse.jdt.feature.group 3.5.2.r352_v20100108-7r88FEwFI0WTuoBl0iaG0tyhfZH6)
[0]Software currently installed: Buckminster - PDE support for headless operation 1.1.350.r11250 (org.eclipse.buckminster.pde.headless.feature.feature.group 1.1.350.r11250)
[0]Only one of the following can be installed at once:
[0.2]Java Development Tools Core 3.5.2.v_981_R35x (org.eclipse.jdt.core 3.5.2.v_981_R35x)
[0.2]Java Development Tools Core 3.5.2.v_980_R35x (org.eclipse.jdt.core 3.5.2.v_980_R35x)
[0.2]Java Development Tools Core 3.5.1.v_972_R35x (org.eclipse.jdt.core 3.5.1.v_972_R35x)
[0]Cannot satisfy dependency:
[0.2]From: Buckminster - PDE support for headless operation 1.1.350.r11250 (org.eclipse.buckminster.pde.headless.feature.feature.group 1.1.350.r11250)
[0.2]To: org.eclipse.jdt.core [3.5.2.v_980_R35x]
[0]Cannot satisfy dependency:
[0.2]From: Eclipse Java Development Tools 3.5.2.r352_v20100108-7r88FEwFI0WTuoBl0iaG0tyhfZH6 (org.eclipse.jdt.feature.group 3.5.2.r352_v20100108-7r88FEwFI0WTuoBl0iaG0tyhfZH6)
[0.2]To: org.eclipse.jdt.core [3.5.2.v_981_R35x]

How do I solve this? Or am I doing something wrong?

Cheers
Marian

Hi Marian,
Try updating the Buckminster PDE support to the latest available for 3.5. You can do that with the director:

director -r http://download.eclipse.org/tools/buckminster/headless-3.5/
-d <absolute path to your buckminster installation>
-u org.eclipse.buckminster.pde.headless.feature.feature.group
-i org.eclipse.buckminster.pde.headless.feature.feature.group

I think the conflict below will be gone after that.

Regards,
Thomas Hallgren

Hi Thomas,

thanks for your help. I am currently trying it, but the eclipse.org update sites are just too bloody slow. Is it possible that I need to install the org.eclipse.platform feature from the helios update site instead of Galileo? Because I think I came that far, but then had some other conflicts because of the newer platform version.

I'll let you know as soon as my install requests finish.

Okay I got it all installed, but only using the Eclipse Helios repositories. That means all my builds are now depending the 3.6 eclipse runtime... Any way to get around this?

I'm fairly convinced that the conflict you saw earlier no longer exists when you use the latest from our headless-3.5
update site. Do you see other problems now? Or is it exactly the same conflict?
