Hi all.

We faced a problem with update manager through proxy server.

The problem is about the proxy setting inside the "Network preferences"
page: it seems that such properties are not read until the "Network
Preferences" page is opened.

I set my proxy settings to:
proxyhost : myproxy.mydomain.it
proxyport : 8080

and the update manager fails contacting the update site.

However, as soon as I open the "Network Preferences" page, I see:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 4 2010-04-20 10:50:59.660
!MESSAGE Invalid preference page path: Network Connections

!ENTRY org.eclipse.core.net 1 0 2010-04-20 10:51:01.582
!MESSAGE System property http.proxyHost is not set but should be
myproxy.mydomain.it

!ENTRY org.eclipse.core.net 1 0 2010-04-20 10:51:01.582
!MESSAGE System property http.proxyPort is not set but should be 8080.

Then, if I close the page (no matter if I click ok, apply or cancel) and
retry the update, everything start working ...

One more info: you can reproduce the problem using as 'Active Provider'
the 'Manual' choice. With the 'Native' provider everything works like a
charm.

Is there a way I can force eclipse to load the proxy settings as soon as
the application starts?

Or, are you aware of a workaround of this issue?

Thank you,
Massimiliano
