When I put a new project into CVS control using Share Project, only the
root directory gets created in the CVS library but no files are imported.
I expected Eclipse to import all the source files in the various
directories, also.

After sharing your project, you have to do a commit (Team > Commit ...) for
your project.
A wiard will ask you to enter a comment.
Then, on the CVS view, do a refresh view.
