Ubuntu 9.10, Eclipse build 20090920-1017.

Installed Subclipse 1.6 in Eclipse and Subversion 1.6 (via Synaptic).

But I can't find the SVN Repository Exploring perspective. On my other computer (which runs Ubuntu 9.04, Subversion 1.5 and Subclipse 1.4), I just choose Window->Open perspective->Other->SVN Repository Exploring.

But that is not possible now. Any ideas why?

I'm curious why you posted that here on the CDT forum.

Because it is a plugin that for Eclipse (using the C/C++ version of Eclipse)? And I can't get working on Ubuntu 9.10 (works very well on 9.04), and I was intrested to know if anyone else (at least other Eclipse users) have had the same problem, and if they know how to solve it!

Sorry if I didn't make that clear from the start Smile

I think what Doug meant was that your problem isn't due to the CDT (C/C++ plugins for Eclipse), it's a problem with the Subclipse plugins.
So, you might ask your question somewhere specific to Subclipse, or in a more general Eclipse user group.
See http://www.eclipse.org/forums/
Maybe the newcomers group there?

But to start with, you might look in the Error Log View.

I know, but you must admit that there aren't any obvious section for a question like this on the Eclipse forums? Smile Thus I posted it where it was possible that people with the same setup read (there must be a lot of people here using Eclipse along with Subversion/Subclipse?), and hoped someone had came across this problem too.

I might be a newcomer, depending on how you judge that (only been working as a software engineer for about 1.5 year, and with Eclipse the last 0.5 year), but I didn't consider this as a typical newcomer problem. It could happen anyone who have to start to use Subversion in Eclipse, no matter if you been using Eclipse for one week or ten year?

Thanks for the suggestion to look in the error log. Couldn't find any relevant info there though Sad

Subclipse isn't provided by Eclipse.
It's provided by another community, Tigris.
You should probably ask your question to them.
http://subclipse.tigris.org/

(I use Subclipse, by the way, and am happy with it.)

So am I, it works perfectly well on my Ubuntu 9.04 computer! Smile

But how can you know for sure that this problem is related to Subclipse and not to Eclipse?

For example, when I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 on another computer, strange things started to happen with Eclipse. Couldn't click on "OK"-buttons for example. One could assume that it was something wrong with Ubuntu, right? But it showed that it was because Eclipse didn't use GTK+ correctly.

So, what I am trying to say. It COULD be an Eclipse issue. That's why I don't understand why it could be wrong posting here Smile

(I posted on tigris as welll, don't worry)

Jonas,

- only a fraction of Eclipse users use Subclipse and this is especially
true for CDT users (being only a fraction of Eclipse users themselves).
On the other hand all Subclipse users use Eclipse (it being an Eclipse
plugin)

- the Subclipse developers/power users are more probably use/read the
Subclipse list, although some of them probably reads Eclipse lists, too
(but I guess only a fraction of them read the CDT lists)

- the Subclipse developers/power users have seen a lot of cases/problems
regarding Subclipse usage, so your chances are much better to get an
answer to your problem there (or at least get some pointers on where to
look for more information)

So I don't see anything wrong with dropping a line about your problem on
the Subclipse list instead of insisting to get a response here (which,
it seems, you did not succeed to get)?

No offense meant, I just think you'll really get better support for
Subclipse on the Subclipse list.

Cheers,

Laca

Since I have no idea if it's a Subclipse or an Eclipse issue, I posted
on both the Subclipse and the Eclipse forum (which I also made clear in
my previous post). What's the problem?

Jonas,

It wasn't clear at all (in fact I just re-read your previous posts, but
couldn't find any mention of posting your question on Tigris.org).
Anyway, it does not matter, I only tried to be helpful.
Sorry, if that made you uneasy.

Cheers,

Laca

That is from post #7 in this thread... Wink

Anyway, I'm of course grateful for any suggestions. Just felt a little bit confused why people spend so much time telling me that I am posting in the wrong forum.
